This is sad...Very disrespectul to the craft and to R.H.Wells, which I might add is one kickass tattooist. I see alot of this happening, and the sad thing is I thought the tattoo was cool when I saw it yesterday, but then I realized today how poor it was next to the original.Even if you add something a lil different around a face you just hijacked and try to replicate it verbatim, (which did the original no justice) that is still ripping to the fullest. Drawing inspiration from a piece of art is way differnt then pulling out the light board and drawing st8 from the original.

Agreed. It's one thing taking inspiration or seeing how certain tattooers take on certain elements but the face and hair is straight up lifted the hair band is just changed to a two colour piece and it's a poor imitation at that. I too thought it was pretty good yesterday but when you put it next to the original it really shows it for what it is.

This is really bad but what if the client wanted that exact tattoo? Not condoneing this thing at all but we don't know the situation. Perhaps the artist was given a drawing or photo and was told to replicate without knowing the source? benefit of a doubt

there is no 'situation' to know. if someone brings you a photo of a custom tattoo, you don't reproduce it line for line EVER. it doesnt matter if you know the source or not, you know you didn't draw it and you know it's not flash.
this dude should have his hand smashed with a hammer. there is no excuse. piece of shit.

It doesn't matter. The fact is, as a tattoo artist, if someone brings me a drawing I am going to ask where it came from. Also, if I am going to post a picture of a ladyface and I know I didn't draw it, I would give the person who drew it props. In his case he should have said: Face drawn by Client. He made it look like he drew it, which he didn't. He is just making up a bullshit story to try to cover up what he did. Plain and simple. Also, thank intelligent people for the internet because were actually able to keep a lil bit of tabs on who's ripping who out there. He deserves to get verbally attacked by the artist, the actual person who wears this tattoo, and whoever wants to give him shit, cuz what he did is a fucking dirty, scratcher trick, and he deserves a backlash of unkind words. I don't believe in physical assaulting the guy, but maybe he would learn his lesson, and mayb e this will stop a few shady fucks from stealing original art from a artist and their client who paid a shitload of money, took the pain, and the artist busted his ass creating a beautiful picture. This is just an insult to our industry, and the artist, and i hope Wells is busting his balls. Wells deserves a post on here, specially after this shit.

see all in all i never said i drew it i tattooed it simple as that there is several significant differences, as in a legal standpoint it would be considered completly different. ive appoligesed and explained my story. if a customer comes in and says i drew this who am i to dispute the fact. in australia we have clients that can draw. if no one ever posted the flash and the customer drawings that they had tattooed everyones portfolio would be a hell of alot smaller. the main thing that makes them alike is the blacked out eye, should you bust the balls of someone that puts an eyeball in a skull for ripping off gill montie. everyone that does a tall ship for ripping of sailor jerry. its a shit thing and i never would intentionally rip off someone as i know how it feels. but if people stopped the telephone and internet tough guy bull shit maybe the industry would be better, people dwell on stuff to much these days ive appoligesed and explained what happened if the person is not interested in commenting back most people would consider that to be petty. aaron cain ripped off some guy aitchison stuff back in the day he got caught out but they got on with theyre lives and nobody wastes theyre fucking time bitching about it on the net. also i didnt ask or choose the pictures to post on here if i did i wouldnt have chosen a tattoo that was done such alone time ago. my updates are few and far between because id rather be spending time living then wasting countless hours behind a screen uploading photos to enter the pissing contest of whos better than who.

people need to stop being petty. without artists bouncing ideas with/from other artists the art form would never evolve... i'm sure this kinda thing happens unintentionally alot, give ppl a break
